About the EPIC Study
The USC EPIC Study is currently collecting school-based data on the causes of teen social behavioral health issues. Our study aims to assess high school students’ developmental patterns of substance use (vaping, alcohol, nicotine, cannabis), behaviors, attitudes, and overall well-being.
This will be accomplished by surveying the students of the Class of 2027 over their four years in high school (2023-2028). During Spring 2024, we invited 9th graders at 8 schools to be a part of our study. The first wave of data collection started Spring 2024 and is ongoing. Enrollment for the EPIC Study cohort is still open and we look forward to new school partnerships. The study will collect a total of 8 waves of data and is expected to have approximately 3,500 student participants.
EPIC Study Timeline, Enrollments & Completions
In Spring 2024, we began surveying the class of 2027 at 10 high schools across Southern California. We are continuing our recruitment efforts this Spring 2025.
